Tot-Schooling Part Two: A Place to Work
The next step in creating our Tot-School was to give my daughter a place to work, we had been using a small caddy for her art stuff and paper, and just bringing it to the kitchen table, however I homeschool two older boys who both need quiet in order to stay focused, my tot is not quiet lol So to help them be more successful I decided to get the little desk my daughters nana gave her out of the shed and put it, along with her learning board, in the corner of our bedroom, no more markers on moms bed. Yay!
The purple caddy on the desk was purchased at Walmart and has been so handy. One of the great things about homeschooling is being able to work anywhere in the house. If I need to cook or do dishes and she would like to be back at the table, we can easily grab the caddy and go.

We love to use stickers and Do-a-dot markers, it's so easy to just draw a letter, number, or shape on a piece of paper then let your little one decorate it. Learning can always be snuck into play. Charlotte Mason once wrote "An observant child should be put in the way of things worth observing" I just love that quote and I try to apply it wherever I can, both indoors and out.

I love that she has her own little work station. I wish I could set up something like this for Chloe without Jonah getting into it. Malykai's new desk actually comes in the mail tomorrow and once I get my new computer, he'll have his own computer (my old one) to do school work and really dive into learning how to operate a computer, next year.
ReplyDeleteEvelyn looks so very grown up in this last picture though. I'm not sure whether I like it or not because the idea of her looking grown up taints my 'always a baby' view of both of the girls!
I hate how quickly they're both growing ): I agree, having your own little space for Chloe would be a challenge right now but for the past 5 months Evelyn has proudly carried her caddy around, telling everyone that it's her school stuff lol. Perhaps that may work for Chloe as well
